Buriram and Osaka draw 2-2 in AFC Champions League

Buriram United drew a 2-2 tie with host Cerezo Osaka in their AFC Champions League Group G match at the Nagai Stadium on Wednesday.

The Japan-League’s side found a late equalizer from Kenyu Sugimoto who headed a cross from Hotaru Yamaguchi from the left side of the six-yard-box to the top left corner in the 88th minute.

Buriram went up 1-0 in the 11th minute due to an own goal from Yang Dong-Hyun who later made amends with a header from a very close range to the bottom of the left corner in the 65th minute.

Six minutes later the visitors gained the upper-hand at 2-1 through a Diogo’s header from the right side of the box.

Buriram’s head coach Bozidar Bandovic said: “We should have earned three points but Osaka came up with various attacks to put pressure on us. But winning a point is also important for us and we still hope to make it to the next stage.”

Buriram will play an away game with China’s Guangzhou Evergrand on April 3.
