Young Thai stars  on course for trophy in Japan

TOYOTA, JAPAN - DEFENDING CHAMPIONS Thailand picked up two more wins to stay unbeaten after four games in football’s Toyota International Junior Cup in Tokyo yesterday.

After opening wins against Nagoya Grampus (5-0) and Ventforet Kofu (1-0) on Saturday, the Thais extended their perfect record by beating Toyota City 3-0 thanks to a hat-trick by sharpshooter Atsada Homhual. The 12-year-old from Phuket scored all the goals for the Kingdom (nine) in the first three |games.
Thailand returned to the pitch less than two hours later to beat Kariya City – who fielded their only girl player, Ishida Hinata – 6-0 to keep their clean sheet in the tournament. 
While Atsada produced four goals against Kariya to take his tally to 13, Siriphat Prachan of Bangkok Class FC |and Jakkapon Subboon contributed two more.

With 12 points from four matches, Thailand top the table in the competition, which features eight teams from three nations and concludes today.
National coach Piyapong Pu-on is happy with the Thais’ title defence so far after their trophy win in 2016-17.
“Four wins in two days without losing a goal is pretty satisfying.

“We rotated several players [yesterday] and they did a good job. This is valuable experience for them,” said the former national striker.
“We are definitely trying our best to retain the title. To see whether we win our remaining matches or not, just keep your eyes on us,” he said.
