Chapchai savours 1st win in 3 years in Kanchanaburi

Chapchai Nirat ended the three year drought of title on Sunday following a three stroke victory in the Bt2 million Singha-SAT Kanchanaburi Championship at the Blue Star Golf Course.

The-35-year-old from Phitsanulok shot a final 67 for a total 13 under-par-267 to beat Chonlatit Chuenboonngam by three shots at the par-70 6,969 yard landscape.

“I have been working on my putts a lot and it paid me off. Winning this week is beyond my expectation,” said Chapchai whose last win was in the 2016 ADT  Thongchai Jaidee Foundation in Hua Hin.

“Whatever I have done during practice, I applied them in all four rounds this week. I’m feeling more confident with my swing at the moment. After the front nine, I felt more confident as the back nine holes are short . I knew I stood a very good chance at winning,” added Chapchai who won the winner’s prize money of Bt240,000.

This was Chapchai’s second Thai PGA win after his maiden at the Lam Luk Ka Country Club in Pathumthani in 2011.

Chonlatit, 20 from Nakhon Pathom, finished at lone second with a 270 which was his best result on the Tour.
