Bt100m budget for weightlifting champs
Thailand will host the 2019 World Weightlifting Championships in Pattaya from September 16-25 with a total budget of Bt100 million.
The Thailand Amateur Weightlifting Association and Pattaya City will co-organise the tournament which is expected to attract 800 weightlifters from more than 90 countries around the world. The event will double as one of the qualifying events for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
This will be the third time a weightlifting world championships have been held in Thailand – the previous two were both in Chiang Mai, in 1987 and 2007.
