Winter Test will show if Buri Ram  is on track to stage historic race

NEXT MONTH’S Moto GP pre-season event in Buri Ram will serve as a good test for Thailand before its first ever World Grand Prix Motorcycling event in October. 

Morover, the sport’s star names have confirmed they will also be taking part. The 2018 Winter Test from February 16 to 18 will allow MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 racers to examine their engines and at the same time study the new competition rules before the first series starts in March. 
Thailand will also use the tournament to examine their readiness to host the event between October 5-7 at the Buri Ram International Circuit.
“Winter Test is a good opportunity for us to check how ready we are for MotoGP,” said Tanaisiri Chanvitayarom Managing Director of Buriram International Circuit in a recent interview.
“There have been enthusiastic responses from people in Buri Ram with many new establishments like accommodation and restaurant businesses created for the event.”
He also mentioned that nearby provinces such as Roi Et, Si Sa Ket, Surin and Nakhon Ratchasima were options for fans looking for a place to stay during the October’s competition.
Tickets for the Winter Test are available at Bt500 for seats in the side stands, Bt1,000 for the grandstand and Bt6,000 for VIP access. Entry for October’s MotoGP will be Bt500 per person, up to Bt2,000 for seats in the side stands, Bt4,000 for the grandstand and Bt20,000-40,000 for VIP tickets. Tanaisri said each MotoGP ticket would be three-day passes and could be used for the Winter Test as well.
“There will be more than racing on offer – we also have a fee concerts and several activities during the Winter Test and MotoGP,” he said.
Tanaisiri said Current world champion Marc Marquez of Spain and former champion Valentino Rossi of Italy had already signed up to take part in the test event.
In terms of Buri Ram’s technical preparation, Ruj Saeng-udom deputy governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand confirmed everything was already approved as all the work carried out to date had been under the strict guidance of Dona Sport, the rights holder for MotoGP.
