Sebastian Barry thought he was having too much fun writing his rollicking historical novel "Days Without End" for it to be any good.

It was a real cheap shot for Barry Kenyon (letters, May 18) to suggest that I am a coward who attacks people in my letters because I’m not man enough to attack them to their face.
