A TIMELY police crackdown on a gang involved in transnational wildlife smuggling yielded more than 1,600 pieces of bear claws and tiger parts that were about to be smuggled into Laos.

Four Thais were arrested over their alleged roles in recruiting for a Taiwanese "call-centre" scam in the Philippines, deputy tourist police chief Surachate Hakparn told the media in Bangkok on Thursday.
