China sent more than 30 warplanes and a group of navy ships toward Taiwan, the island’s defence ministry said Saturday.

The United States has joined Songkran celebrations in Thailand with its Acting Secretary of State John J Sullivan offering his best wishes in a statement and the US Embassy in Bangkok producing a video featuring its embassy staff talking about what Songkran means to them.
