29 foreign companies have been allowed to conduct businesses in Thailand under the Foreign Business Act by Commerce Ministrys foreign business committee in September, said Sinit Lertkrai, deputy commerce minister on Thursday.

Thai exports surged 41.59 per cent in May from a year earlier, for the highest growth in almost 11 years, the Commerce Ministry reported on Thursday. Exports totalling US$23.057 billion were balanced by a 63-per-cent rise in imports to $22.261 billion, resulting in a positive trade balance of $795 million.

The Cabinet has approved a further discount on registration fees – from 30 per cent to 50 per cent – for entrepreneurs who wish to register online to become juristic persons in a bid to attract both foreign and local investors to establish their businesses in the kingdom, government deputy spokeswoman Ratchada Thanadirek said on Tuesday.

The National Rice Policy Committee has approved a rice price-guarantee scheme for crop year 2020-21 for five types of rice with effect from September 1 until the end of harvesting season in May 2021, Deputy PM and Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit said on Friday (July 17).
