With the fake crowd noise pumped into Scotiabank Arena escalating from a murmur to a roar, Ovechkin sniped the puck past New York Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov and let out an emphatic yell that could be heard up in the 300 section as his teammates engulfed him in celebratory hugs.
