The Tokyo metropolitan government has decided to cancel the torch relay for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games along public roads except for those on islands, including the Ogasawara Islands, according to sources.

An 84-year-old farmer defied age and impressed all with his participation in the national flag relay for the Olympics in Surat Thani province.

Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan, who is also president of Olympic Committee Thailand, on Saturday opened the “Flag of the Nation” relay event for the Tokyo Olympics at the Sports Authority of Thailand.
