Number one South Korean e-commerce platform, 11street, launches in Thailand

Number one South Korean e-commerce platform, 11street, launches in Thailand

11street, the most popular e-commerce platform in South Korea, officially launches in Thailand with a dedicated local Thai platform and mobile application.

Through its original and innovative platform, 11street aims to provide Thai shoppers and sellers with dedicated channels that are convenient, secure, highly mobile and easy-to-use.

11street Thailand, the fifth location globally, boasts an original interface to help local sellers harness the value of the platform to connect with online shoppers and will be a fully scaled marketplace to support Thai sellers who want to market their products online. A dedicated mobile application will run in tandem with the online platform – together, the two channels will provide a variety of content and product information suited for both computer and mobile browsing.

Hongcheol Jeon, chief executive officer said that the launch of 11street in Thailand is to provide an easy-to-use platform for both Thai shoppers and sellers. Thai shoppers are highly engaged in digital, and the platform is eager to help local sellers expand their retail presence online. 11street will provide dedicated on-site services to help sellers understand the ease and benefits of selling online, and its team will provide them with guidance on how to market their products in shopper-friendly and appealing ways.

Strong services to support sellers

Local sellers will have access to the innovative 11street CAMPUS in its office that will open soon, which will help Thai businesses with no prior e-commerce experience delve into online retailing easily. Dedicated support and training from 11street will help new sellers learn more about product content creation, packaging and delivery, in addition to other services, as 11street demonstrates its collaborative effort to fortify its coexistence with Thailand’s SMEs.

This proactive approach by 11street signals the quality partnerships that local sellers will gain by choosing to sell their products on the platform and is aimed at helping current Thai businesses gain an easy foothold in the online marketplace.

Mobile application for seamless experience

The 11street platform and mobile application will host an immense collection of local and foreign products at reasonable prices, which include countless on-trend South Korean items that are popular in Thailand. To help shoppers visualize and understand products better, product information with 360-degree product views are also available to provide a more immersive shopping experience.

“Our original 11street mobile application will further shake up the local online retail industry with its ease of use and optimized browsing layout across different mobile devices. This application allows products on 11street to reach a wider audience easily anytime, anyplace, and our sellers will be able to log into their ‘Mobile Seller Office’ to list products more conveniently. The program will also self-adjust its layout according to your mobile device to ensure everything is listed and shown coherently,” Mr. Sanghyun Kim, Vice President of Platform Division, added.

A safe platform for shoppers and sellers

To ensure both shoppers and sellers are exchanging trusted products on 11street, the company has two special methods to help them buy and sell with confidence. Firstly, a “Seller Grade Program” will be introduced to reward sellers who have attained high levels of sales quantity or service satisfaction through ratings and feedback. Secondly, various “Guarantee Programs”, based on 11street’s proven experience and knowledge from its global businesses in other countries, aims to guarantee a refund for counterfeited products, in addition to its lowest price assurance promise.

Shoppers also have access to a dedicated customer service centre that is open every day to provide prompt feedback on any queries. The Secure Socket Layer security system and Fraud Detection System provide additional peace of mind for shoppers using credit cards, while cash on delivery provides another handy payment option.

The launch of 11street in Thailand continues to build on the trusted platform’s success in both its home market of South Korea and around the world. With an average monthly transaction amount of USD 590 million in South Korea, the e-commerce provider has 55 million products and 200,000 active sellers, with total transactions of more than USD 6.5 billion annually. Initially launched in South Korea as the second entrant, 11street now ranks itself as the number one platform in terms of total commerce market in South Korea by mobile commerce leadership. The platform attracts 20 million monthly unique visitors in South Korea and is the leading online commerce portal locally.

Thailand marks the fifth global market for 11street, after South Korea, Turkey, Indonesia and Malaysia, and is a natural fit for the company. With improved internet connectivity on mobile devices and upgraded network infrastructure, more Thais are embracing online retailing, with official statistics estimating the value of the e-commerce market for Thailand in 2015 to be worth THB 2.1 trillion (USD58.4 billion), a 3.65 percent increase from 2014.
