Discovering Thailand
Find out everything you ever wanted to know about Thailand in the “2015 Discover Thainess” tourism campaign, which kicks off today with a spectacular grand opening ceremony around Siam Square and Lumpini Park. Traffic will be temporarily suspended as the colourful parade, fanfare and beautiful floats make their way from the National Stadium along Bangkok's main shopping thoroughfare passing Siam Discovery, Siam Center, Siam Paragon and CentralWorld on the way to Lumpini Park for the official ceremony. The event kicks off at 6pm and the show will be at the park through Monday. Expect cultural shows and lots of great food.

Let it grow!
Learn about agriculture and horticulture by heading out to Kanchanaburi and exploring Chia Tai’s Horticulture Fair at Chon Chareon Farm in Wang Dong district of Muang Kanchanaburi, a popular annual event that draws thousands of visitors and “weekend farmers”, it displays plant cultivation through art, science, technology and business. You can stock up on goodies to take home too. Find out more at Facebook.com/chiatai.official.

Dancing on the mount
Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park, or Khao Wang in Phetchaburi province, celebrates its annual festival from January 14 -23 with plenty of entertainment and fun. Ram wong, folk dancing, a dessert contest, cultural shows and an astronomy workshop are among the highlights. Built on the top of forested hillside with King's Rama IV's palace and a series of temples and shrines, Khao Wang is about two hours to Bangkok's south.

Fifty shades of red
Nong Han Lake in Udon Thani’s Kumphawapi district offers rustic beauty on the lake of water lilies. Throughout January, the water lilies yield lovely red flowers and turn the 3,600 hectares of the lake into a “red sea”. Visitors go there to enjoy a slow boat ride and make friends with the birds and bees. Nong Han Lake is home to the country's largest concentration of water lilies.
