Lavender, which is known for both its flavour and aroma, is playing a leading role at The Okura Prestige’s Element restaurant every Friday night through August 28. The menu features a range of lavender-themed dishes created by chef Henry Jordan including lavender tea & crustacean consomme with smoked potato and confit shallot and lavender-spiced duck breast with cabbage braised in beer.

“Lavender adds so much colour and flavour that I am sure our guests will enjoy my new menu created especially for Friday nights,” the chef says.

Saving a life

Sixty volunteer lifeguards recently completed their training in Phuket Province. Organised by Phuket Provincial Administration Organisation (PPAO) with the help of members of the Surf Life Saving Australia, the volunteers earned certificates in Basic Surf Lifesaving and Surf Rescue. The volunteers were mostly from Phuket, though some came from Khao Lak and even Surat Thani. Four of the five women who joined the training this year were from hotels in Krabi.
