Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) finally has a new governor.

New governor for TAT
Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) finally has a new governor to market the country’s tourism industry, which has been staggering of late due to several factors. Yuthasak Supasorn is the new TAT governor, and today is his second day in the office on New Phetchaburi Road. Born in Roi Et in Thailand’s northeast, Yuthasak, 49, studied Economics at Chulalongkorn University and Keio University in Japan. He was executive vice president and chief financial officer of MCOT before signing a contact with TAT Board of Directors.

Mon communities in Sangkhla Buri, Kanchanaburi province, once again capture the spirit of nature with the Floating Boat Festival from September 7 to 9. This annual festival celebrates as much as pays respect to the earth spirits, who can be accessed in the river, on the mountains and in the sky. The ceremony will take place around the Chedi Phutthakhaya at the Temple of Wang Wiwekaram. Sangkhla Buri is about 350 kilometres west of Bangkok.

New bird for Nok Air
Thai low-cost airline Nok Air recently welcomed the Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 “Nok Budhnampetch” to its fleet. Made in America, the aircraft is a new generation of the classic B737 model. With a capacity of 189 seats, the aircraft is designed to compete with the Airbus A320 family on short to medium-range flights. “We are pleased to welcome additional 737-800 planes into our fleet as they will fuel the expansion of our business on regional and international routes. Nok Air looks forward to introducing Boeing’s new 737 MAX 8 in the next couple of years,” noted Patee Sarasin, Nok Air’s chief executive. The airline currently operates 19 Next-Generation 737-800 planes and has an additional six on order with Boeing.

Italian chef Luca Cesarini of Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit has been appointed by Lufthansa to create tailor-made premium menus for passengers on all intercontinental flights from Southeast Asia to Germany. Bringing a finer dining experience to passengers is part of Lufthansa’s in-flight initiative, the Star Chefs programme. Cesarini developed his craft in the kitchens of Italy and has a wealth of experience working in renowned restaurants around the world. His menu will provide those on board with an enticing selection of Mediterranean dishes with an Asian twist. Among the main courses will be anise seeds spiced veal tenderloin with herbed potatoes and caramelised apple. The new menu is being served from this month.
