Chiang Rai welcomes visitors with cool weather and colourful flowers at the Chiang Rai Flower Festival and Music in the Park. The festival gets underway tomorrow and continues through January 31 at Mae Fah Luang Garden. Flower lovers can enjoy a wide variety of cold-climate blossoms throughout the park along with flower sculpture exhibitions, displays of cold-climate plants, decorative plants and a flower competition and fair selling local products. The renowned Miss Thin Thai Ngarm beauty pageant is also part of the festival. Music lovers should not miss Saturdays in the garden where they can chill to young local bands and concerts from leading singers.

Royal Phuket Marina will once again host Asia’s premier boat show – the Phuket International Marine Expo (PIMEX) 2017 from January 5 to 8. Apart from several new activities and features, the event also aims to commemorate the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej who was also a talented yachtsman and great supporter of boating and yachting competitions not only in Thailand but in the Asean region. Flower power heads North Tourist visa fee waived
Thailand is offering a temporary tourist visa fee exemption scheme and a Visa on Arrival (VoA) fee reduction from now until February 28. All applicants applying for Tourist Visa (single entry) to Thailand during the mentioned period will be exempted from the visa fee. Visa on Arrival (VoA) fee will be decreased from Bt2,000 to Bt1,000 for applicants of all nationalities entitled to apply for the VoA at the designated immigration checkpoints.
