In the pink
The Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay in Singapore is a vision in pink as it plays host to the sakura extravaganza until March 24. For the second time, the Gardens has gathered more than 20 species of cherry blossoms under one roof to show how easily the tree adapts in the tropics – once several challenges are overcome to ensure it thrives in the heat.
The pink-and-white garden is set in a beautiful, Japanese-inspired landscape. The cherry trees include Prunus accolade and Prunus subhirtella pendula trees in unusual weeping forms, and Prunus Snow Fountain and Prunus Fukubana producing profuse clusters of rich flowers. Cherry trees bloom for only a week or two. Check the “Gardens by the Bay” page on Facebook to check their progress before you visit. Admission is Bt700. Find out more at www.GardensByTheBay.com.sg/blossombliss.
