Sanya rules the waves
The Sanya Celebration gets underway in Hainan, south China this month with a road show that aims to promote inbound tourism.
Organised by the Municipal Government of Sanya and running through September, this year’s event will see teams from Hainan visiting Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, Kazakhstan, Singapore and India to introduce the coastal city’s unique charms.
Visitors can check out the latest city information, the classic coastal resort products and programme tours of local Li and Miao ethnic minorities, ecological forest, countryside and traditional Chinese medicine therapy that present the city’s advantages in terms of tourism resources, economy and cultural heritages.
The city is targeting to welcome one million international visitors in 2018, making it the biggest international tourism spot in South China area. Following the Belt and Road Initiative (B&R) development strategy, Sanya is actively expanding in the markets of Asia and Europe as well as Commonwealth of Independent States to build a transportation hub and destination along the Maritime Silk Road.
