THURSDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2026

Thailand needs more long-term investment to revive economic growth, former commerce and energy minister Dr. Narongchai Akrasanee says.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 2026 IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings in Bangkok, Dr. Narongchai said a lack of long-term industrial investment and inefficient government infrastructure spending have weighed on the economy.

He also stressed the need to encourage Thai businesses to participate in foreign investment projects, particularly in AI and digital technology, so the benefits reach more of the domestic economy.
