Thailand is aiming to revise excise taxes for carmakers after Indonesia publicly urged Toyota to move its hub from Thailand to Indonesia.
Dr. Archanun Kophaiboon, an expert on Thailand’s auto industry, says the risk of manufacturing hubs moving is not imminent, but the government should address the flood of Chinese EVs.
As Thailand faces the impact of US tariffs, Dr. Kirida Bhaopichit, Thailand’s Vice Minister for Commerce, said Thailand will complete a reciprocal trade agreement to alleviate the pressure.
