Santa Claus, Loch Ness monster, the Yeti… Is democracy next?
Re: “Footprints in the snow,” Science & Environment, December 10.
Is nothing sacred? The fabled Yeti, or abominable snowman, is nothing but a lousy bear? Next thing you know, they’ll be telling us that the Loch Ness monster is a big walrus, the Easter bunny is a wolverine, and Santa Claus is a paedophile. There is also the suspicion that “socialism with Chinese characteristics” (“Jack Ma, other tycoons should be careful with their words”, Opinion & Analysis, same edition) is not much different from chastity with promiscuous characteristics.
Leave us a few illusions, please! Before you know it, they’ll be telling us that democracy doesn’t work.
Err... it does work, doesn’t it?
