One million Uighurs detained on no charge...

I nearly choked on my coffee this morning when I read the news that China’s vice foreign minister called Canada’s detention of Huawei’s chief financial officer “extremely egregious” and demanded that the US “immediately correct its wrong actions” in asking for her extradition.

He should save his warning for his own government over its treatment of the Uighurs and Tibetans.
Unlike China, where the government controls the judicial system, in Canada and the US there are independent courts and also something called “due process” and the “right to lawyers”.
The Canadian Supreme Court is considering whether or not to extradite Huawei’s CFO Meng. But even if it does, she’ll get a fair trial in the US and a team of top-notch Philadelphia lawyers to defend her. Also remember that US laws tend to favour defendants.
So Beijing should calm down and stop snarling left and right.
