Prayut must kick out two officials damaging Thailand

Prayut must kick out two officials damaging Thailand

Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan has to understand that he must go now – or be kicked out!

By not voluntarily resigning after the “wristwatch-case”, and now making rash comments about the young Saudi asylum seeker, he demonstrates that he has lost the necessary sensitivity, wisdom and knowledge to be a statesman.
Another who has failed in his professional duties is Immigration chief Surachate Hakparn. His first action in the asylum case was to contact the horrible dictatorship of Saudi Arabia, which the young asylum seeker had just escaped. By contacting the Middle East tyranny, the Immigration chief showed he is out of touch with international laws on refugees and human rights that are ratified by most of the world including Thailand. The mishandling of this case by the Immigration boss is so grave that the man should be immediately transferred to an “inactive post” or, if media reports are accurate, fired altogether.
PM Prayut has to take firm action against those in official positions who damage Thailand’s reputation and standing in the world. What Prayut does now will determine whether he is the future politician many people are waiting for.
