The strategy used by Don the Deceiver and his faithful followers is simple but very effective. You take 95 per cent of the detailed, researched and factual accounts produced by well-known and established media outlets and call it “fake news”. You take the very words the New York attorney general used to describe Trump’s charity and dishonestly say they were about Hillary. You ignore all his business failings, his immoral behaviour and his notorious fondness for untruths, misquotes and plain old lies.
When faced with such people, I am reminded of a popular saying: arguing with people like this is like playing chess with a pigeon; it will inevitably defecate on the board then strut around like it’s won.
