Kittiratt calms down worries

The government may mobilise funds to finance its planned establishment of the sovereign wealth fund, said Deputy Prime Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong.

He also assured that the government will ask for parliamentary approval for the establishment, following the Opposition's worries that the government may issue an executive decree which needs no parliamentary approval for this matter.

"This is not the government's urgent agenda, though. If we are going to finance the fund with foreign reserves, we need approvals from related agencies," he said, adding that the government may opt to raise public funds to finance the wealth fund.
