No political meddling: SET chairman

Stock Exchange of Thailand Chairman Sompol Kiatphaibool today assured all that there was no political attempt to halt the market plunge, when the trading stopped briefly on Monday.

He insisted that it was a technical problem and that the circuit breaker functions well.
The trading stopped when the market nosedived 9.42 per cent, near the 10 per cent level which would trigger the circuit breaker.
"It's a technical problem. I insist there was no political meddling. The exchange has done all it can to fix the mishap," he said.
