Japan's male choir to help Thai flood victims

The internationally renowned Japanese 'Fujisawa Male Voice Choir' will hold their first ever full-scale concert in Thailand, to show moral supports to flood victims in Thailand.

The ‘Hand in Hand 20th Anniversary Charity Memorial Concert for Dr. Thiam Chokwatana’ will take place at 3pm on October 15-16, at M Theatre . The show will also feature Thailand’s leading choirs including CU Chorus, Bangkok Glee Club and Bangkok Japanese Chorus and Tomoko Kuribayashi. The event is organised by the Dr. Thiam Chokwatana Foundation and the proceeds from this event, without cost deduction, will be donated to help Thai people in flood-affected areas throughout the country.

The concert was hosted out of gratitude for Thais' support to Japan, in the aftermath of gigantic earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan’s coasts last February. The people of Thailand then joined hands in providing generous and spontaneous assistance to the Japanese disaster victims.

Takahiro Yoshikawa, Master Conductor of Fujisawa Male Voice Choir, stated that, “We are most delighted to have a chance to perform in Thailand, and more than that, to represent the strong bond of long-standing friendship between Japan and Thailand. With this concert, we have the opportunity to do something to help Thai people affected by the massive flood right now, as well as, to express our gratitude for Thailand and Saha Group for their generous assistance towards Japan when our country was hit with the destructive quake and tsunami earlier this year. This will mark the very first time for the Fujisawa Male Voice Choir to perform in Thailand. So, I would like to invite music lovers, and people who would like to show support to the flood victims throughout the country, to come to enjoy this concert.”

All musicians of the Fujisawa Male Voice Choir are now practicing hard to deliver a captivating performance for their audience in Thailand. They will be playing some of His Majesty the King’s most loved royal compositions including ‘Bua Khao’ (White Lotus), ‘Ploen’ (Enjoy),  ‘Chan Oey’ (Oh, the Moon), ‘Rai Chan’ (Moonless), ‘Arthit Absaeng’ (Eclipse) and ‘Kwam Rak Mai Ru Job’ (Endless Love), as well as, some Japanese tunes that are well-known to Thais such as ‘Sakura’ and ‘Hana’, which means ‘Flowers of the Heart’.

Tickets are now available at the prices of Bt3,000, Bt2,000 and Bt1,000 at www.thaiticketmajor.com.
