Lifestyle TV launched

Leading music and entertainment company GMM Grammy's publishing unit is diversifying into satellite TV, providing lifestyle programmes to expand its audience base.

Editorial teams from Maxim, In, Madame Figaro, Her World and Attitude magazines will be responsible for Maxxi TV, said Laikram Lerdvitayaprasit, managing director of the channel.
GMM Grammy has budgeted Bt100 million for this new channel, which will provide a wide range of programmes including variety shows related to fashion, lifestyles, automobiles and travel. The channel will be aired on the 1 Sky satellite platform with C-band and KU-band dishes.
GMM Grammy operates eight channels – Fan TV, Bang Channel, Green Channel, ACTS Channel, Play Channel, Money Channel, JKN (Japan Korea Network) and Saranair Channel. Most of them have reached the break-event point.
The latest move is part of GMM Grammy’s aggressive marketing efforts after launching 1 Sky set-top boxes in September. Vilasinee Chivanond, managing director of 1 Sky Multimedia, a subsidiary for the satellite broadcasting platform, said the company had organised a series of roadshows last month to introduce this new service to customers upcountry.
Thus the company expected to achieve its target of providing 200,000 set-top boxes by the end of the year.
The 1 Sky set-top box is being offered in three models. The standard model allows customers to access pay-per-view services as well as free-to-air channels for Bt1,500 per month per box.
The other two, to be launched later, are the Easy model at Bt500 monthly for free-to-air channels and Genius HD at Bt2,500 for high-definition channels.
