THAI Executive Vice President of Technical Department, Flight Lieutenant Montree Jumrieng, said that some aircraft maintenance staff did not show up for overtime work on February 4 as a result of one of THAI’s cost reduction measures that lowered the overtime rate by 17 per cent.
The overtime rate reduction is a temporary measure that is part of THAI’s companywide cost reduction scheme being implemented throughout the company to lower overall operating costs.
He added that there were other staff who accepted the lower overtime pay.
In the meantime,THAI Management will communicate with maintenance staff for better understanding of the situation.
