David Sable, global CEO, said yesterday that this global trend is becoming increasingly important for leading companies like Amazon, ebay, Microsoft, Google and Walmart. For instance, Amazon, a leading online retailer, plans to have its own real outlets to connect its core customers with real activities and events.
Social media are among the most effective forms of communication in digital marketing to create brand loyalty and engage people with the brand. So it might be better if advertisers and marketers can use it to bring such customers to participate with their on-ground marketing events, Sable said.
Hari Ramanathan, regional planning director for Y&R Asia, said high-potential customers were already seen in social media like Facebook and Twitter, while those users are increasing by the day.
The agency is launching its “Spark Plug” initiative at its boutiques across the globe to understand local insights and capitalise on digital technology reform in the country.
“This is a part of Y&R’s ambition to strengthen our local boutiques in Asia, where we see the fastest growth in the global advertising industry,” Sable said.
The programme was recently launched in Singapore and will be kicked off in Thailand and elsewhere later this year.
Y&R will provide a chance and working areas at its office for local entrepreneurs with appropriate talent in the digital and telecommunications business.
The boutique was also eyeing individual bloggers, online video developers and content producers.
“The company wants to share and blend their ideas and expertise in digital development with our expertise in advertising to create creative works for clients in the near future,” Sable said.
