Confidence continues to climb

Thai businesses confidence in March continued to rise, soaring 20 points to 129 since September, according to the global Regus Business Confidence Index.

In a statement released on April 9, the global business workspace provider’s survey showed that 61 per cent of companies reporting revenue growth, compared to 41 per cent six months ago. Companies reporting profit growth (52 per cent) also increased 15 per cent.
Filippo Sarti, CEO of Regus Asia Pacific, said “Thai business confidence continues in its path of growth undeterred. In addition to this, the proportion of companies reporting revenue and profit growth has increased since September 2011. However, in order to grasp growth opportunities in a sustainable way, businesses globally are still looking to cut overheads without damaging their growth prospects.”
Thai companies are focusing on measures to contain costs in the quest for sustainable growth: they seek a shorter supply chain, increasing use of flexible workspace and of pay-as-you-go businesses services.
Respondents identified a shorter supply chain (46 per cent), reducing use of fixed workspace (46 per cent) and of pay-as-you-go businesses services (41 per cent) as the areas where companies could best make savings without damaging growth prospects.
Globally, the Business Confidence Index rating is lower for small businesses (107) than for large firms (124).
