“The sufficiency economy is not only useful for farming. Many modern and large companies have also adapted the philosophy for their operations and ended up with a success story,” Vichai Assarasakorn, secretary-general of the TCC, said yesterday.
To build awareness among the business community of the sufficiency economy, the chamber will invite senior managers of leading local companies to share their experiences during the “Sufficiency Economy: Real Experience from Business Sector” forum on May 10 at the Centara Grand Bangkok.
Expected to participate are executives from Charoen Pokphand Group, Saha Group, ThaiBev, Boonrawd Brewery, SCG, Muang Thai Life Assurance, Mitr Phol and PTT.
Vichai said Thailand should champion the sufficiency economy as it was proven to drive economic growth and create fair practices for all sectors.
“The forum will give a chance for Thai enterprises to learn about the philosophy from a new angle so that they can adapt it to develop their own business,” he said.
During the forum, leading businessmen will brainstorm ideas and sum up techniques and methods to implement them in their operations.
The ideas will be proposed to the government for use in policymaking and also to the World Economic Forum on East Asia, which will be held from May 31-June 1.
“It should be a solution for sustainable economic growth in the world after facing a recession for many years,” he added.
