Teera appointed TFPA president

Thai Financial Planners Association sets sight to increase the number of certified financial planners by 100 from 85 in this year, to cope with increasing demand.

The association's members represent commercial banks, securities companies and asset management companies.

Teera Phutrakul, who was appointed the new president to succeed Vivan Tharahiranchote, said that from over 140,000 CFPs worldwide, 85 are in Thailand.

Demand is on the rise as Thailand is moving towards an ageing society, Teera said. All individuals now need planning in investment, life insurance, tax, inheritance and retirement. Individual planning is necessary as the regional banking industry is opening up in 2015, after the Asean Economic Community. Thai banks and insurance companies need to come up with such services to maintain the client base, he said.
