SCB No 1 Thai financial institution in Forbes

Siam Commercial Bank again ranked high in the annual Global 2000 list of world-leading corporations published by Forbes magazine, rising significantly this year.

In the magazine’s 2012 report on the world’s 2,000 biggest public companies, 17 Thai firms made the list. SCB ranked No 2 among the companies from Thailand, and No 1 among Thai financial institutions. SCB’s overall rank in the list this year was No 662, up from No 763 in 2011.
“SCB’s high rank in this survey is an indication of our overall performance, and it shows our truly international level of competitiveness in the banking business,” said Dr Vichit Suraphongchai, chairman of the bank’s executive committee.
“The results also reaffirm the success of the bank’s ‘Change’ initiative, the strategy for transformation that we have pursued during the past several years,” he said. “This major programme has put us on a clear path towards solid growth and helped SCB gain wide recognition both at home and abroad.
“We would like to thank our customers, employees, shareholders and all stakeholders who have helped us progress. In the years to come, we will continue to do our best to serve customers in every segment with innovative products responding to their needs,” Vichit said.
New York-based Forbes magazine published the first Forbes Global 2000 report in 2003. The widely read annual survey ranks leading public companies around the world by sales, profits, assets and market value. SCB has been included in the list every year since its inception. In 2003, the bank was among seven Thai companies listed, ranking No 1,854.
