Land appraisals kick in July 1

The new appraised values for land and property will be applied from July 1 until 2015 nationwide.

The reference prices have been delayed since January because of the severe flood last year, Naris Chaiyasoot, director-general of the Treasury Department, said yesterday. The appraisals, which are usually lower than market prices, are used for assessing taxes.

BIFF & BIL launched

In spite of a drop to some major markets, Thailand hopes to drive exports of fashion merchandise including garments, footwear and leather goods by 5 per cent this year from US$7.8 billion (nearly Bt250 billion) last year.

As part of the plan, the 30th Bangkok International Fashion Fair and Bangkok International Leather Fair 2012 (BIFF & BIL) kicked off yesterday at Impact Muang Thong Thani. They run until Sunday.

Deputy Commerce Minister Poom Sarapol said this event featured more than 700 booths and showcased a comprehensive range of products from about 500 companies under the "Asean Integration: Success and Beyond" theme.

The fair is expected to attract 40,000 local and foreign visitors and generate more than Bt700 million in immediate sales.

Detached houses

Sansiri will introduce its two latest detached-house projects, Narasiri Hideaway Ekamai-Ramindra and Narasiri Topiary at Nawamin, worth Bt2 billion.

The grand opening is this weekend with prices starting at Bt16.99 million.

Sustainability forum

The Corporate Social Responsibility Institute of the Stock Exchange of Thailand is joining with the Securities and Exchange Commission and other capital-market units to hold the "CEO Forum: CEOs’ Role in Building a Sustainable Organisation".

The seminar aims to stimulate top executives of listed companies to conduct business with social responsibility for sustainable development.

The event, also co-hosted by the CSR Club and Thai Listed Companies Association, is set for tomorrow morning at the SET building and will feature two distinguished keynote speakers.
