The collaboration took effect on July 1. Moong Pattana chief executive officer Sumeth Lersumitkul said the company was improving its personnel and working systems to prepare for the open market environment and more intense competition in the region.
“The outsourcing of logistics and warehouse management to a professional service provider will allow us to be stronger, both in the reduction of transport lead times and in retail coverage, including hypermarkets and other modern retailers,” he said.
By outsourcing to DHL, Moong Pattana will be able to halve the lead time for transporting its products to vendors, from the current average of more than four days to about two, he said. The company’s major products include mothers’ and baby products, nutritious drinks, and daily-use household products. Sumeth said the contract with DHL was on an annual basis and could be rolled into another year.
Moong Pattana posted 38-per-cent growth in sales in the first quarter of this year compared with the same quarter of 2011. Sales of its flagship Pigeon brand baby products grew 45 per cent in the quarter.
“We expect our trading company to achieve double-digit growth in sales for the full year compared with last year,” Sumeth said.
Moong Pattana yesterday signed a contract with Jordan Asia Pacific to distribute oral-hygiene products for the company.
