“We are confident that this trend will continue, which will bring the total value of foreign direct investments promoted by the BOI to Bt630 billion for the full year as targeted,” Atchaka Sibunruang, secretary-general of the BOI, said yesterday.
The number of projects rose 32.6 per cent to 692 from the 522 worth Bt167 billion in the first six months of last year, she said.
Of the total projects, 409, worth Bt185 billion, or 59 per cent, are extensions of existing projects, while 283, worth Bt92.9 billion, or 41 per cent, are new.
The strong results show that Thailand is still an attractive destination for investment in the region in the eyes of foreign companies, Atchaka said.
