'Global Entrepreneurship Week' set

Thailand has joined 123 other countries in launching "Global Entrepreneurship Week", the local goal of which is to inspire young Thais to turn their ideas into businesses and showcase Thai entrepreneurship to the world.

The campaign will take place from November 12-18 and coincides with the 80th-anniversary cele-|bration of the Thai Chamber of Commerce.
The “Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) Thailand 2012 Cam-paign” was co-launched on Monday by Steven Cheah, president of Ayana Co and the official host of GEW Thailand, Vichai Assarassakorn, secretary-general of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, and Pongsak Assakul, chairman of the Board of Trade.
The Joint Chamber of Commerce and the Nation Group through Nation University are also joining the campaign.
Other key GEW partners are the National Institute of Development Administration and the Software Industry Promotion Agency, which are both organising events during the week.
The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, Ini3 Co, the US Embassy via the Thai-US Creative Partnership, the Chiang Mai Creative City initiative and the Malaysian-Thai Chamber of Com-merce are also taking part.
Enterprises are encouraged to organise events during Global Entrepreneurship Week as a mark of the importance of entrepreneurship in global development.
The campaign, founded in 2008 by Enterprise UK and the Kauffman Foundation of the US, has thus far involved 126,290 activities and an estimated 25 million participants.
Global Entrepreneurship Week seeks to inspire people through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators.
The GEW Thailand campaign is primarily targeted at young Thai entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs, to encourage them to consider turning their ideas into businesses.
Organisations, both private |and public, are encouraged to register their activities online at www.gewthailand.com.
The total number of recorded activities in Thailand during the week will ultimately result in a global impact here and in other countries, particularly in terms of entrepreneurial encouragement and support, say the organisers.
