NBTC asks court to drop CAT case

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission has asked the Central Administrative Court to drop the case brought by CAT Telecom against the now-defunct National Telecommunications Commission, which questioned the NTC’s authority to hold a licence auction for third-generation cellular service on the 2.1-gigahertz spectrum.
The NBTC wants to plug all possible legal loopholes that could throw off its own auction of the spectrum on October 16.
The NTC was ordered by the court to suspend all preparations for the auction in September 2010. CAT had cited the previous constitution in challenging the NTC’s licensing authority.
