Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said after a bilateral talk with Myanmar President Thein Sein, on the sideline of the United Nations General Assembly that the joint committee is tasked to draft the cooperation agreement. This follows the memorandum of understanding signed by both countries during Thein Sein's visit to Thailand in July.
Aside from the MoU on Dawei development, Thailand also agreed to assist Myanmar on human resource development.
According to Yingluck, Thailand will host a meeting as soon as possible, to be attended by Myanmar ministers. They will discuss requests from Myanmar which could cover the speedy investment in infrastructure like electricity and roads. They will also discuss details on how to draw more Thai investment to Myanmar.
Possible to be included in the discussion is the joint development of a port in Tivara. Yingluck said that Thai investors are ready to take part in the development.
In the meeting with Thein Sein, Yingluck also thanked him for Myanmar's recent release of 83 Thais.
