Chai Watana Tannery expects to win new orders for tanned leather worth US$15 million (Bt460 million) from buyers in India and Indonesia, under the plan to boost overseas revenue in anticipation of the Asean Economic Community.
Managing director Weerapon Chaiteerath said that at present, overseas revenue accounted for 30 per cent of the total.
“Winning more overseas orders is in line with the company’s strategy to penetrate the export markets more, particularly Asean and India, which show high economic growth and demand. In light of competition in the domestic market, this would expand our market share and increase revenue. Still, we also see growth in domestic demand,” he said.
CWT, the producer of leather sheets for furniture and auto upholstery industries, earned net profit of Bt31.59 million in the first half of this year, against Bt27.68 million for full-year 2011.
