Soaps, 'Gangnam style' top searches

The file-sharing service 4 shared, soap opera hit "Rang Ngao", chat-bot application Simsimi, worldwide Korean pop hit "Gangnam Style" and television series "Winathee Deo Thao Nan" [One Second Only] were the five most searched-for items on

The five keywords featured in top-10 lists in the Rising Star category, in addition to nine others, Popular Individuals, Hot News, Television Hits, Hit Movies, Online Games, Technology and IT, Business Brands, Hit Songs and Popular Tourist Sites.

"Rang Ngao" also topped the Television Hits chart, followed by "Khun Suek", "The Voice", "Look Phoo Chai Mai Taphod" and "Thong Prakai Saed" in the first five.

Meanwhile, Thai people’s use of computers, smart phones and the Internet increased over last year.

The survey also showed strong demand among Internet users to share their photos on social media.

In line with this trend, the 4 shared website, which offers space to store up to 15 gigabytes of photographs, proved very popular among social network users in Thailand.

The Simsimi and Instagram applications were also popular among Thai users of social media, the survey found.

Excluding entertainment searches, Thais also showed strong interest in searching for details of the government’s first-car scheme, which has gained in popularity since September.
