With a workforce of more than 32,000 people, the company says it recognises the importance of bringing out people’s capabilities, empowering them as well as encouraging their career development.
“TUF has been working towards sustainable growth by putting itself in the forefront of innovation and competitiveness in every dimension, including its production, branding and marketing strategies,” company president Thiraphong Chansiri said. “In order to achieve the aforementioned, we need to have high-potential employees.
“It is our culture to value every employee from the production line to management level and to provide proper career advancement programs. That is what sets us apart from other business in the seafood industry both in Thailand and internationally.”
For the past six years, the company has been investing in different human-resource-development programmes, starting with a scheme developed for all new hires to ensure overall employee engagement and acceleration of team spirit, as well as to provide support systems to new team members.
Last December, the company launched a two-year management-associate programme, which aims to groom a new generation of Thai leaders to work in its subsidiary companies around the world.
The company has also launched the “Innovation Seeds Champion” campaign, which welcomes students with innovative ideas to implement production lines.
Furthermore, three young managers from TUF have been accepted to join the “One Young World Summit” in Johannesburg, South Africa, next week. There they will share their visions with hundreds of participants from around the world who will join discussions on education, youth unemployment, human rights, global business strategy, leadership and government, and sustainable development.
Recently, TUF appointed a new chief executive of MW Brands in Europe, a new head of marketing at Chicken of the Sea in the United States, and a new director of strategic business development in Thailand.
All of this is part of the company’s effort to achieve its long-term revenue goals. It targets annual revenue of US$5 billion (Bt155 billion) in 2015, and $8 billion by 2020.
“Although we have seen some challenges in the industry this year, we feel that it is the right time for the company to invest even more in our human resources in order for us to grow into the future and remain at the forefront of the industry’s development, and to ensure we continue to provide the world with safe, quality, and delicious seafood products,” Thiraphong said.
