According to Salinee Wangtal, an assistant governor of the Bank of Thailand, so far this year 5-6 Japanese banks have requested the approval for repesentative offices.
Seto Shinkin Bank, a cooperative financial institution, is the latest to open the representative office.
"It's clear that more small and medium-sized Japanese banks want to establish representative offices in Thailand. They are here to support their clients who want to invest in Thailand," she said.
With representative offices, they can offer data supports to clients.
