Ramkhamhaeng, Synphaet plan new hospital on Phetchaburi Rd

Two Thai medical-services providers, Ramkhamhaeng Hospital (RAM) and Synphaet, have formed a 50:50 joint venture to invest in a new 100-bed hospital on Phetchaburi Road in Bangkok.

The hospital will require investment of Bt700 million, Ramkhamhaeng said in a filing to the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
The hospital is expected to start operating in 2018. The venture will sign a 30-year contract to lease the land on which it will stand.
The joint-venture project follows a resolution by Ramkhamhaeng’s board of directors concerning the acquisition of 24.99 million ordinary shares of R-Plus Asset Co at a price of Bt10 per share.
The deal will be finalised this month, with total payment of Bt249.99 million to be made in instalments.
“RAM intends to expand its investment in the hospital business in preparation for the Asean Economic Community’s launch in 2015. RAM believes the healthcare business has strong potential because Thailand has a good image and fair-priced healthcare services,” said Chamnan Chanapai, director of Ramkhamhaeng.
RAM operates a Bangkok-based private hospital that provides various medical services. Its hospital has 485 beds, and is part of a network with seven sister hospitals. Established in 1988,the company has specialised clinics treating heart problems, strokes, diabetes-related foot ailments, and back pain.
Synphaet is a Bangkok-based business engaged in hospital and other medical services. It is one of Thailand’s leading firms in the healthcare services.
