Masterkool expects sales to rise 50% to Bt350m in 2013

Local cooling-systems producer Masterkool International Co Ltd expects to generate domestic and overseas sales of more than Bt350 million this year, up 50 per cent from last year, as the company moves forward with its plan to boost market share in Asia.

Company managing director Noppachai Veeraman said that since its launch in 2003, Masterkool has become recognised as the leader in the alternative cooling-system industry in the Middle East, Europe and the Southern Hemisphere. The launch of its household cooling systems a few years ago has seen overseas sales rise by 50 per cent as the company’s products are now able to cater to both the corporate and household markets.
“During our first six or seven years in the overseas market, Masterkool targeted mostly corporate customers, and we were ready in terms of products and services for this target group. This offered us a great advantage when we wanted to develop products for household customers, because we already had great after-sales services in place. Initially, we had about 30 overseas distributors. At present, we have over 50 distributors in 40 countries worldwide,” Noppachai said.
Overseas sales now account for 15-20 per cent of Masterkool’s annual sales, he said.
Several distributors have invited the company to set up joint ventures and build factories in their countries in order to increase growth opportunity and cut production and delivery costs. The company is in the process of considering these proposals.
Last year, Masterkool’s overseas sales were worth Bt30 million. By the end of 2013, the figure should hit Bt50 million.
“I think Europe, the Middle East and the Southern Hemisphere will remain our markets for corporate customers, while the household market will be in Asia. In 2015, when the AEC comes into effect, I am certain Masterkool will have an even bigger growth opportunity, because we have received great support from the Department of Export Promotion and joined its overseas roadshows to introduce quality products from Thailand, which is one great way to expand our market,” Noppachai said.
