Chang, Coca-Cola major sponsors of live RS broadcasts of World Cup

RS has revealed two big names, Chang and Coca-Cola Thailand, as major sponsors of its live broadcasts of the upcoming Fifa World Cup soccer matches.

As potential sponsors line up to cash in on the world-class tournament in Brazil, about Bt4 billion worth of marketing activities and events will be pumped into the market. Meanwhile, RS expects to bag Bt700 million from managing all the media rights.
Chang and Coca-Cola Thailand have invested more than Bt150 million to kick off their marketing activities to attract more viewers of the live World Cup broadcasts in Thailand.
Surachai Chetchotisak, chief executive officer of RS, said that Fifa (the International Federation of Association Football) had announced the 32 finalists for the World Cup, all of them from leading soccer-playing countries. The host itself, Brazil, has been the champion five times. Previous champions such as Spain, England and even France, who barely made it through the European playoffs, will be in this competition, he said.
“The teams in the 2014 Fifa World Cup Brazil are the strongest ever, and I can’t wait to see the football superstars showing their skills in the quest of becoming the world’s champion.
“RS is well aware of the needs of Thai football fans, and has carefully planned for the 2014 Fifa World Cup Brazil to be better than the fans have anticipated. The excitement will kick off this year, starting on the night of Friday, December 6, on Channel 8 and Sun Channel. For the first time in Thailand, the two channels will broadcast the final draw for the World Cup live from Brazil, the full 90 minutes, from 11pm to 12.30am.
“The audience can witness the atmosphere of the venue, where the football celebrities enter, until the moment the final draw is completed, to find out the route to victory of the upcoming competition, and whom your favourite team will be up against,” Surachai said.
