2014 growth revision expected: BOT

The Bank of Thailand is prepared to review the 2014 economic growth projection in January in light of the current political impasse.

Roong Mallikamas, director of Bank of Thailand's Economic Research Department, said that the forecast could be revised down but should not be as much as 0.5 percentage point.
The Bank of Thailand targets the economy to expand by 4 per cent next year from 3.6 per cent this year.
She noted that the recovery in global economy next year should boost the Thai economy. Thailand's export growth should show a higher growth rate next  year.
Roong said that the House dissolution was not taken into account when the central bank completed the latest projection on November 17. Delays in mega projects would also slightly affect the projection, she said. In the latest projection, the central bank expected a decrease in the public spending.
