SET aims to open physical gold market this year

Kesara Manchusree, president of the exchange, said that the Securities and Exchange Commission as well as the Bank of Thailand have agreed in principle to the plan.

A major obstacle is the commodity is usually quoted in US dollar. However, the central bank is concerned that this could pose a foreign exchange risk. 

All parties are finding a solution, she noted.
