Norling named new DTAC CEO

TOTAL ACCESS Communication (DTAC) yesterday named Lars-Ake Norling as its new chief executive officer, effective April 1, 2015.

Currently he is the CEO of DiGi.Com Berhad in Malaysia. He will pursue the agenda of making DTAC Thailand’s leading Internet services provider, the company said.
Sigve Brekke, who took charge as interim CEO in September last year, will return to his role as executive vice president and head of Asia for the Telenor Group.
He continues to serve as vice chairman in DTAC’s board of directors.
Boonchai Bencharongkul, DTAC chairman of the board, said the new CEO had been chosen after a selection process over the last few months. “Lars-Ake brings relevant technical and commercial experience from two of the world’s most advanced digital markets – Sweden and Malaysia,” Boonchai said. “As he joins DTAC, the company is set to deliver on its strategic ambition of Internet for all and to contribute to the development of Thailand’s digital economy,” he added, while thanking Brekke “for his efforts to establish a new direction for DTAC in his role as interim CEO”.
Norling joined DiGi as CEO in August 2014, where he has overseen the company’s strong growth in revenues and overall market position. Before DiGi, he was CEO at Telenor Sweden from 2009 to 2014 after serving as their chief technology officer from 2007 to 2009.
He has also held a number of executive positions in the fixed broadband provider Bredbandsbolaget in Sweden, as well as in Ericsson.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the development of DTAC,” Norling said. “Based on its strong position with Thai consumers today, DTAC has the opportunity to deliver further growth. I look forward to working with the DTAC team and the board of directors in achieving the company’s strategic ambitions,” he added.
